- Bring a hat, sunglasses and a light jacket or long sleeve shirt. The sun can be harmful if exposed to it for long periods of time.
- If you are subject to seasickness, please take any medications according to the directions. We tend to find ginger ale and Saltines to be helpful.
- We will have soft drinks on board and you are welcome to bring beer, etc. But would ask that you not overindulge. We do you large and sharp hooks and being intoxicated could create safety issues for you, your fellow mates, the crew and the Captain.
- Be sure to bring a camera to record your adventure. We will not only be catching large fish but in the waters around Block Island we have seen whales, schools of tuna, sharks, porpoises, sea turtles, submarines, celebrity homes, spectacular sun rises and sunsets,etc
- Arrive 15 minutes before your charter is to depart in order to get your gear squared away and to receive any safety instructions from the Captain or First Mate.
- Closely follow any safety instructions issued by the Captain or First Mate. ROOSTER is equipped with many backup safety systems.
- The First Mates tip is generally 20 percent of the cost of the charter.
- Please feel free to ask the Captain and First Mate any questions about Block Island and fishing the waters that surround it. We live here year round and love to share our enthusiasm for the Island.
- For children 12 and under please let them know beforehand that they will be required to wear a life vest during the trip. It is State law.
- We do encourage catch and release particularly if you have caught more than you and your party can eat.
- We will clean your fish and dispose of the remains.
- Always let the First Mate or Captain handle the fish at the boat. Sharp hooks and the sharp teeth of the fish that will be caught can cause an injury. Bluefish, in particular, can bite a finger off if not handled properly.
- Don't hesitate to ask if there is anything to make your trip more enjoyable.
- There is a proper marine head in the cabin that provides privacy.
